Constellations will not be auto created by iris360. It also will not load to the Street View editor. Using our App allows you to change the settings on the camera and capture an image. (you can also press the capture button on the camera itself to capture an image). you'll then need to copy the stitched images from the SD card to your computer so you can upload to the Street View editor and add constellations etc.
The only App that has any connectivity to Google is Google's own Street View App v2.0 that they released in September. This app lets you capture and display the stitched image directly from iris360. You can then use the App to upload to your Street View account without needing a computer, but the current version of the app (v2.0) does NOT allow constellation creation.
If you wish to create constellations using iris360, for now use the Street View Editor only.
ok
I have been playing around with the street view app and it seems to add a panorama to my google account it has to be geo located and appears on google maps as a panorama. Surely if that has happened can those panoramas still be used to create a constellation. Obviously I could upload via google drive or photos but if uploaded using the street view app it publishes that panorama.
Not at present. There's a very good thread on the Street View | Trusted forum where Manon from the Street View | Trusted Team explains exactly the current situation regarding using their Street View App for constellations: https://goo.gl/hI7w9l
Dear Andrew.. Perhaps I missing something here but I have published a number of panoramas directly from my mobile app and cannot upload anything unless it is placed on the map!! This is the reason for my comment as it seems that I cannot upload to the street view editor via my mobile app without publishing! Surely one does not want to publish every sphere uploaded until they have been linked into a constellation. The discussion you refer to seems only to confirm that they would not qualify unless a constellation of 5 which is understandable but makes no mention of the fact that you cannot upload WITHOUT publishing to the map.
If you want to create constellations, do NOT use the current v2.0 version of the Street View App for the reasons you're highlighting above.
Continue to create constellations using the Street View Editor until such time as Google hopefully add constellation creation as an option to the Street View App.
OK. Thanks for that. So, what this means then is that you cannot actually use the SV app to upload Iris pictures for use in constellations? I assume then that for use in see inside constellations they need to be uploaded using other methods such as google drive or google pictures?
Your notes above say "You can then use the App to upload to your Street View account without needing a computer, but you'll still then need a computer to add constellations etc."
but this surely is not the case as any upload made via the app automatically publishes it to Google maps thus meaning they are not readily available for building constellations.
Yes correct. You can't currently use the Street View App to upload iris360 panos (or indeed panos taken with the device's camera) for use in constellations.
If you intend to publish to See Inside via the Street View | Trusted program you will have to upload for now via the Street View Editor.
As the link in the forum suggests, it appears that Google are looking to add more functionality to their App.
I thought it was quite clear in my note how the system works but I'll amend it slightly so it states without doubt that if you wish to create constellations, for now you have to do this via the Street View Editor.
Thanks for the clarification. I am sure I am not the only one who was thinking along those lines. I guess one could save the image from the maps app to your phone and then upload via the google drive app to the Street View editor. (am just about to go try that!)
hi Andrew,
Manuel the newbie here… what is a constellation?
thank you,
Manuel
