Processing iSTAR Fusion and iris360 data in Immersive Studio

Users should begin by launching the application, and in the initial menu screen selecting the option for "iSTAR Fusion + iris360, Process Images":

In the main window that then appears, users must load the data that is to be processed - this can be done by either:

1. Dragging and dropping the folder containing the data into the processing queue
2. Clicking on the green box to the right of the "Input" field

All captures found within the specified folder will now be loaded to the processing queue:

Immersive Studio will also specify a default Output location (where the processed imagery will be saved to) - if desired, users may click the green box to the right of the Output field and change this:

Users may now click the "Process" button and Immersive Studio will begin processing all captures in the queue one by one:

Captures within the processing queue will move from "Waiting" to "Processing" to "Done":

Once all queued captures have been processed, users will be given the option to clear the data from the queue, and should do so:

All processed output will be within the output directory specified previously, which will be created by Immersive Studio if it doesn't already exist:

The default settings in Immersive Studio should be appropriate for any user to process their data straight away, however these can be configured per individual needs if required.  Here's an explanation on what each of these do:

• Stitch Images: Enabled by default as it is the primary function of the software, however may be disabled if users wish to use Immersive Studio to extract the source images only (see below).
• Contrast & Sharpen: Enabled by default, applies a degree of these two effects during processing in order to optimise the overall quality.  Users who wish to post-process their imagery in external software (Adobe suite for example) are recommended to disable this so as to work with the unadjusted output images.
• Compress Output Image: Enabled by default, applies compression to the output images which results in smaller file sizes.  As with the above, users are recommended to disable this if intending to further post-process their data externally.
• Add Mirror Ball/Pinch: Applies the relevant effect to the bottom of images during processing in order to mask the nadir area.  Product specific:

iris360 v1 & iSTAR Fusion: Mirror Ball:

iris360 v2: Pinch:

• Add Logo: Allows users to insert a logo into the nadir of the images during processing, a custom logo may be uploaded for this purpose by clicking the green button next to "Add Logo".  May be used in conjunction with Mirror Ball/Pinch, the logo will sit on top of this.  Further information on using custom logos to patch images may be found within this article (iSTAR) or this article (iris360).
• Export Source JPEGS: When enabled, Immersive Studio extracts the pre-stitched fisheye images from the NCTRI file, one from each exposure captured from each of the four sensors.  These may then be imported into 3rd party software for stitching/blending if desired.
• Auto Level Image: If the tilt sensor on the iSTAR Fusion/iris360 device is calibrated correctly, then Immersive Studio automatically ensures that images are level during processing when this option is enabled.  Furthermore, if the compass is calibrated, the output image will be aligned facing due north.

• Output Resolution: When set to the default of "Auto", data will be output at the maximum resolution, however if desired users may choose to process at a lower resolution.
• Include Immersive Viewer: Creates a standalone copy of the NCTech Immersive Viewer alongside the output data, this allows users to supply other parties with data that is immediately viewable immersively without installation of any viewer being required.
• Process HDR: Enabled by default, any images captured with HDR enabled are blended during processing.  When disabled, only the middle exposure will be processed.
• Extract Cubeface: Allows the extraction of the source images in 2048 x 2048 px cubeface format for export into 3rd party software.
